About Aram

Aram Asarian is a Pittsburgh area visual artist + designer exploring the intersection of nature and design. Aram creates living plant sculptures, he’s a photographer, and he also paints and draws.

The Alteration of Plants series forces the plant to grow abnormally, altering the plants growth. The artwork is part experiment and part art, where art meets science. Aram is interested in the duality and juxtaposition of the idea of nature v.s. man-made objects and materials. As well the conflict of human control and effects on nature. How will nature survive? Will nature adapt? Will nature be altered? This is the Alteration of Plants series.

Aram graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art where he studied general fine arts, photography and graphic design. MICA was rated #1 out of #10 “The Best Fine Arts Colleges in the U.S.” in 2017. He currently resides in the countryside of Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania which is south of Pittsburgh. He is a son of a psychologist and of a family therapist. He is of Armenian, English, and Irish descent.
